Region 4 Map Region 4Report Highlights: Region 4 stands out from the rest of the state in many ways. It tops the state (including the Twin Cities) in the percent of audience survey respondents who reside outside the region 50.2%. It also has the second highest per-capita spending of non-resident audience members ($45.51), a very lucky combination that means that Region 4 is doing a great job of attracting audiences and dollars from outside the region. In fact, spending by both non-residents ($45.51) and residents ($17.84) exceeded per-capita statewide averages of $36.89 and $16.16, respectively. It is also second in the state in the total number of volunteers that donated time to arts and culture organizations (2,747). The region has the fourth largest arts economy in the state, behind only the Twin Cities, Duluth and Rochester areas.

Arts and culture organizations: 87
Audience economic impact: $8,231,472
Organization economic impact: $5,315,425
Total economic impact: $13,546,897

Americans for the Arts, the study’s national partner, created the economic models for the twelve studies, one for each region and one for the statewide study, and also provided secure web-based surveying tools.Minnesota Citizens for the Arts is a statewide arts advocacy organization whose mission is to ensure opportunity for all people to have access to and involvement in the arts.
